The robots used Figure’s onboard Helix system to identify, orient and sort packages from a moving conveyor. Different units rotated into the line as batteries depleted, turning a single-robot demo into a small machine workforce.
The public livestream mattered as much as the task. Long, mostly unedited operation offered viewers more evidence than a polished two-minute demonstration, including recoveries, pauses and awkward machine behavior.
Package sorting is narrow, repetitive work. It is also real work performed in environments designed for people—the exact commercial bridge humanoid companies have been trying to cross.
